| Tyson Kikuo Hussey was born on December 23, 1982 in Washington state. After completing high school in Oregon in 2001 he traveled extensively throughout Mexico and Gautemala. He began playing at the age of eighteen in the city of Queztaltenango, Gautemala. Entranced by the beauty and musicality of the language he started studying poetry and literature becoming heavily influenced by the trova style of music by Silvio Rodriguez, Mercedes Sosa, Pablo Milanes, Joan Manuel Serrat and various others from South America and Cuba. After learning the latin way of living and feeling well-versed in Spanish, Tyson decided to make the journey to Southern Spain where believed that earthy ancient way of playing guitar that he had heard on a few old records had orginated from. In 2003 he found home in the enchanted moorish city of Granada living in a small apartment in the Realejo in front of the taller of none other than famous guitar maker Rafael Moreno and a block from the shop of Manuel Bellido. There his true studies began learning from singer Alfredo Tejada, guitarist Luis Milan, and studying intensively under Marcos Garcia "Palometas", Antonio Heredia " El Chonico", Paco Cortes and Emilio Maya amongst others. A year later he enrolled in the beginners course in Sevilla at the world-reknowned Cristina Heeren Foundation of Flamenco given the oppurtunity to study with teachers such as Raul Cantizano, Tino Van der Sman, Eduardo Rebollar, and accompany singers like Laura Vital and Jose de la Tomasa. He currently resides in Seattle, Washington teaching and performing, but he hopes to return to his beloved Andalucia in July to finish his 3 years in studies at the foundation in Sevilla.
